Thamarai (Iravu): Kanjivaram Heritage Saree

Thamarai is a lotus rising from still, dark water.
The body is a deep midnight violet that shifts to plum as it moves, scattered with tiny four-petal zari flowers that catch the light like distant lamps. A rose pink border with fine gold zari stripes frames it simply, letting the colour do the talking.
Then the pallu blooms. Where the violet meets rose pink, it breaks into sharp peaks, like dark water parting. A band of large woven leaves leads into a pallu filled with lotus buds and slender leaves, tone on tone, glowing softly with zari.

Handwoven in pure silk on a traditional Kanchipuram loom, the body is a rich aubergine, quiet and confident, scattered with tiny pure zari flowers like jasmine buds left on the temple steps. A soft lilac border lined with fine gold stripes frames it with restraint. Then comes the pallu: lilac washed in pure zari, with floral creepers framed in mauve flowing into a dense woven lattice that catches the light with every fold. Where the pallu meets the body, it rises in sharp temple peaks, the detail you'll notice every time you drape it.
