With 14 years of experience in the software industry, Rohit and Tiyasi embarked on a new adventure driven by Tiyasi's deep connection to the legendary saree heritage of West Bengal. Growing up surrounded by the richness of sarees, Tiyasi always sought modern designs and vibrant colors, which she found lacking in the market. And thus, Oagh was born.
Before diving into the world of textiles, Rohit and Tiyasi embarked on an extensive journey, touring over 24 weaving villages across India. This immersive experience allowed them to understand fabrics, weaving techniques, and the artisans' craftsmanship, reinforcing their commitment to preserving and promoting Indian heritage.
At Oagh, we believe in working directly with weavers, forging close relationships with them to ensure the authenticity and quality of our products. This direct collaboration enables us to infuse our heritage weaves with modern designs and vibrant colors, bridging the gap between tradition and contemporary fashion.
Today, Oagh operates with a small manufacturing setup, specializing in handloom and handblock sarees. Each piece is a testament to our dedication to craftsmanship, sustainability, and the vibrant spirit of Indian culture.
